Creating
and Editing HTML Documents
To
create a new document:
To
open an existing HTML file:
Adding
Text and Inserting Objects
To
add text to your document:
-
Type text directly into the Document window.
To
insert the current date into a document:
-
In the Document window, place the insertion point where you want
the date to be inserted.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Choose Insert > Date
-
Open the Object palette by choosing Window > Objects, the
open the Common panel and click the Date button.
-
In the resulting dialog box, select a format for the name of the
day of the week, a format for the date and a format for the time.
-
If you want the inserted date to be updated every time you save
the document, select Update Automatically on Save. If you want
the date to become plain text when it's inserted and never update
automatically, deselect that option.
-
Click OK to insert the date.
To
create a horizontal rule:
-
In the Document window, place the insertion point where you want
to insert a horizontal rule.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Choose Insert > Horizontal Rule.
-
Choose Window > Objects to open the Object palette, and then
click the Horizontal Rule button.
To
modify a horizontal rule:
-
In the Document window, select the horizontal rule.
-
Choose Window > Properties to open the Property inspector, and
modify the properties as desired.
Setting
Document Properties
Changing
the title of a page:
-
Do one of the following:
-
Choose Modify > Page Properties.
-
Choose Page Properties from the context menu by right-click in
the Document window.
-
Choose View > Head Content, the click the Title button when it
appears. Open the Property inspector to edit the title.
-
Enter the title for the page in the Title box.
-
If you're using the Page Properties dialog box instead of the
Property inspector, click OK. The title appears in the title bar
of the Document window. The file name of the page and the folder
the file is saved in appear in parentheses next to the title.
To
define a background image or color:
-
Choose Modify > Page Properties, or select Page Properties from
the context menu in the Document window.
-
Set a background image and / or a background color:
- Click
the Browse button to browse to and select the image, or enter
the path to the background image in the Background Image box.
-
Choose a background color from the Background color box.
Formatting
Text
To
change font characteristics:
-
Select the text. If no text is selected, the change applies to
subsequent text you type.
-
Choose from the following options:
- To
change the font, choose a font combination from the Property inspector
or from the Text > Font submenu.
-
To change the font style, click Bold or Italic in the Property
inspector, or choose a font style from the Text > Style submenu.
-
To change the font size, choose a size (1 through 7) from the
Property inspector or from the Text > Size submenu.
-
To increase or decrease the size of selected text, choose a relative
size (+ or - 1 to + or - 7) from the Property inspector or from
either the Text > Size Increase or Text > Size Decrease menu.
To
change the color of the text:
-
Select the text.
-
Choose from the following options:
-
Choose a color from the palette of browser-safe colors by clicking
the color box in the Property inspector.
-
Choose Text > Color. The system Color Picker dialog appears. Select
a color and click OK.
-
To define the default text color, use the Modify > Page Properties
command.
To
align text:
-
Select the text you want to align.
-
Click an alignment option (Left, Right, or Center) in the property
inspector, or choose Text > Alignment and choose an alignment
command.
To
center elements:
-
Select the element (image, plug-in, table, or other page element)
you want to center.
-
Choose Text > Alignment > Center.
To
indent text and remove indention:
-
Select the desired text.
-
Click the Indent or Outdent button in the Property inspector,
choose Text > Indent or Outdent, or choose List > Indent or Outdent
from the context menu.
